About Grace Bandawe

Grace Bandawe Conference Centre was built and started operating in 1975 as a Hostel for young ladies who had completed their studies and were ready for or were employed. This idea was hatched by two Ministers of the Church of Central African Presbyterian, namely, Rev. J. Sangaya and Rev. Dr. Silas Ncozana.

Grace Bandawe was renovated in 1985 after it stopped being a girls hostel and become a fully fledged hotel while it also served as a main center for Ministers' meetings and activities. With the support of the then Mayor of the City of Blantyre, Mr. Kumichongwe, Grace Bandawe was exposed to many people in Malawi and the outside world. Its main clients were Non Governmental Organizations and governments departments, business the Centre still enjoys to date.

The name Grace Bandawe is in honor of the Bandawe family who worked tirelessly during the 1950’s when the mission was developing schools and hospitals in the country. Dr Louis Bandawe and his wife Grace worked as a medical Doctor and Matron respectively. They were instrumental in the smooth shaping up of Blantyre Girls primary School, Kapeni Hospital and John Bonnie Memorial hospital among the many notable jobs that they did for CCAP Blantyre Synod.
