OPERATIONS OF THE ESTATES DEPARTMENT
CCAP BLANTYRE SYNOD
Functions
- Mostly Property Management covering the entire Synod from Nsanje to Ntcheu and from Mangochi to Mwanza. These properties include both Real and Landed.
- Maintain proper and updated records/registers of all pieces of landed and real properties owned by the Blantyre Synod.
- Where need be and with some excess of housing units, the office arranges for allocation of the same to needy applicants on rental terms. Tenancy arrangements are drawn and signed by both parties to legalize the transaction. Always ensuring smooth in flow of rental as per the condition of the Rental Agreement.

- In collaboration with Synod’s Building /Maintenance section, to arrange for necessary property inspections and effect rehabilitation/ repair works that may be needed.
- To ensure that all the Synod’s landed properties have proper and legal ownership titles.
- Put proper checks and balances for the control of any likely illegal development in both land and structures.
- Where serious land encroachment and other problems arise, legal advice from the Synod’s Legal Advisor is sought. Otherwise all other land problems are amicably sorted out by mere discussions with the Traditional Leaders, elderly persons in the area and encroachers. These are mostly conducted on site.
- All in all the department ensures that all Synod’s Estates and properties are properly and legally owned, secured and protected.

Security
The Estates Department is also responsible for the security of all Synod’s properties. For the properties in all the eighteen Presbyteries (with their congregations and Prayer houses) all security responsibilities are in the hands of those Presbyteries, Congregations and Prayer Houses while the security at the Synod’s Headquarters and the entire Mission Station , there are guards hired from a Private Security Company as well as a few directly employed by the Blantyre Synod.
